Is The Fear of Covid-19 Stalling Your Path To Recovery?

Covid-19 Healthcare

Covid has changed the world as we know it. Going about your daily life is currently like exploring an alien world. Everything has turned upside down. But don’t let COVID-19 prevent you from seeking healthcare assistance and physical therapy. My physical therapy clinic operates with COVID compliant guidelines, and my aim is always to keep you safe.

Are you worried about getting back out there during the pandemic?

It’s natural to be a bit anxious about a condition that has taken up so much of our lives since early 2020. And I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t experienced any anxieties when thinking about returning to my daily routines during the outbreak of COVID-19.

However, even during these uncertain times, we shouldn’t be ignoring persisting pains and aches. Your health is a priority, and that’s why we’ve made sure that the risk of transmitting Covid is kept minimal at Nancy Branberg PT.

Your wellbeing is our main concern, and we don’t want you staying at home with insufferable pain because you’re worried about coming back to the clinic.

It’s never been easier to get in touch with me, and you should never be anxious or embarrassed about your situation, no matter the problem.

The Facts About Transmission

Covid-19 Symptoms

We all know how quickly Covid can spread, but we want to tell you something important. There are ways to control and prevent the transmission of COVID-19 that have proven incredibly effective.

Without any preventative equipment or preventive measures, the virus has free rein to spread. The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) has provided steps that can be taken to limit the infection rate. And we follow these guidelines with dedication and care.

It’s essential to know how the virus can be passed between humans before we can adapt to modern life.

There are three ways that the infection can be spread:

Inhalation – The uptake of infectious droplets through the airways. This can occur when somebody sneezes or coughs. It occurs most when within 3 to 6 feet of the infected person.

Deposition – Where Covid droplets from an infected person come into direct contact with exposed membranes (such as the mouth or nose).

Touching – This is where an infected person leaves behind infectious droplets on inanimate objects. The virus can survive on these surfaces for a few hours.

Up to 50% of infections are transmitted by asymptomatic people who are unaware of their infectious capability. But don’t worry. We have the equipment, and rigorous testing methods, for ensuring this should not be an issue.

Masks (both cloth and medical-grade) have been proven to reduce between 50-80% of all infectious Covid droplets, limiting the outward spread of contamination through outward breaths.

Put simply, masks significantly reduce the transmission of the COVID-19 virus, and allows us to move around safely.

Vaccines have also helped to reduce the spread, hospitalization and death rates for the Covid virus. With the use of all FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved vaccines (Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty, Moderna, and Janssen [Johnson & Johnson]), protection against hospitalization due to the virus has increased by around 89%.

As a step towards your safety and for your peace of mind, we have been fully vaccinated.

How Are We Adapting To Keep You Safe?

It remains essential for us to adapt to this new world as your health is the most important thing. It’s time to put politics aside, and use some common sense to prevent illness.

We have taken all of the necessary precautions outlined by the government on board. So that we can securely commit to your protection, we have taken further steps where appropriate. The COVID-19 virus is not spreading through my clinic. No, sir!

We help you stay safe so you can get the treatment that you deserve.

Here are the preventive measures that we’re using to keep you safe:

Limiting Who’s In The Clinic:

The clinic has been set up as a safe space by restricting who can enter the premises. We’re making sure that the only people who enter the clinic are clients. This limits any unnecessary contact, and dramatically reduces any chance of the virus entering into the space.

We want you to feel as comfortable as possible, and we know this means prioritizing your health and safety during the pandemic.

Our clinic is well-ventilated, and windows will be kept open where possible to mitigate the spread of infection.

Social Distancing:

Government guidelines advise that we still need to adhere to social distancing measures. As such, we have employed social distancing within the clinic to limit your contact with others as much as possible.

When moving about, we encourage clients to adhere to the social distancing guidelines we have put in place to protect yourself and others.

By maintaining social distancing, we have minimized the risk of spreading the disease through “inhalation” and “deposition.”

We understand that social distancing cannot always be maintained, especially when direct contact is required for treatment. In these cases, we will be wearing medical-grade PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

Masks:

According to recommended governmental guidelines, all unvaccinated individuals over the age of 5 must wear a protective face covering to limit transmission via inhalation.

We would encourage all individuals (both vaccinated and unvaccinated) in the clinic to wear a protective face covering when inside the building. This minimizes any chance of unnecessary contact.

We do appreciate that there are circumstances where wearing a face covering is not appropriate or beneficial. You would not be required to wear a face-covering should you have any medical exemption (or disability) or if you’re experiencing any respiratory issues.

Cleaning And Disinfecting:

Antibacterial Cleaning Covid-19

One of the biggest spreaders of the virus is through contact with contaminated surfaces. And we understand that this can be pretty worrying when thinking about entering a public space.

How have we changed to accommodate this form of infection?

Every surface is cleaned and disinfected after the treatment of a client. This means that any potential trace of the virus is removed and disposed of before we meet with you.

Our rigorous cleaning (with approved antibacterial products) means that you don’t need to worry about COVID-19 hanging about on shared surfaces. We also offer hand sanitizer where possible to further minimize the risk of passing any form of the virus on.

By cleaning and disinfecting all shared surfaces, we have reduced the risk of transmission through “touching”. To make the space safer for everyone, we also encourage clients to wash their hands regularly.

Recognizing The Symptoms

Recognizing the symptoms of Covid can help limit the transmission of the virus. It’s essential to keep the clinic a safe space by staying updated with the possible symptoms.

Just as a reminder, we have a list of symptoms that are characteristic of the Covid virus below:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat

We have worked hard to keep our space Covid-safe. We ask that you take the necessary steps if you think you have any of the mentioned persisting symptoms. Even if you have been fully vaccinated, you will be encouraged to take a test to confirm the results.

If you have had a positive test result, please notify all recent contacts either directly, or you can use Virginia’s free COVIDWISE Exposure Notification app.

If you have tested positive and our physical therapy session is upcoming, get in touch with me. We can re-arrange your appointment and guarantee that you don’t miss a therapy session.
